Michelle "Shelly" Lynne Flatt

Michelle “Shelly” Lynne Flatt, 53, of Summerville, SC, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025 at MUSC.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025 at 11 o’clock in Summerville Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 642 Boone Hill Road, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Shelly’s name may be made to Lee Johnson, Missionary to Chiclayo, Peru, South America, School for the Deaf. Shelly was born February 26, 1972 in Ridgewood, NJ, the daughter of Thomas Raymond Flatt and Linda Kay Fitzpatrick Flatt. 

She was one-of-a kind and brought joy to everyone she met through her big smile and infectious “giggle.” Shelly loved traveling, especially to Michigan to spend time with her grandparents, where she would take long walks around the lake as a family. At home, she enjoyed relaxing in her sunroom with a good magazine in hand or in the rocking chair on the front porch watching the days go by.

In addition to her parents, Shelly leaves behind her brother, Daniel Flatt and his wife Stephanie; niece, Sophie Flatt; nephews, Daniel Flatt, Jr., Elijah Flatt, and Jeremiah Flatt, all of Summerville, SC; and other family and friends who loved and supported her immensely. The family would like to thank the friends and staff at Dorchester Board of Disabilities and Special Needs for their care and love for Shelly. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Richard and Ruth Flatt and Robert and Kathleen Fitzpatrick.

The family would also like to express their appreciation to the MUSC doctors, nurses, and staff that cared for Shelly.
