Permelia “Panne” Powers Bussey, 74, of Summerville, passed away peacefully Sunday December 7, 2025.
A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:00 am at Old White Church House and Cemetery, 10550 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485. In honor of Panne, memorials can be made to Summerville Methodist Church, P.O. Box 839, Summerville, SC 29484.
Panne was born on May 1, 1951, in Charleston, SC, to the late John Tracey Powers and Permelia Simons Powers. She graduated from Summerville High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Columbia College. Panne retired as an 8th-grade teacher at Alston Middle School. She was a member of Summerville Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping and, above all, cherished spending time with her family.
Panne is survived by her son, John Joseph Bussey of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Margaret Eleanor Courtney (Stuart) of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Tyler Bussey of Rock Hill, SC, Hannah Morgan Bussey of Rock Hill, SC, Reynolds Winfield Courtney of Summerville, SC, and James Tracey Courtney of Summerville, SC. She is predeceased by her grandparents, John Tracey Powers and Margaret Frankfort Limehouse Powers both of Summerville, SC; and grandparents, Winfield Samuel Simons, Sr., and Annie Howard Simons both of Walterboro, SC.
