Philip “Phil” Moses, 77, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on February 9, 2026.
Born on December 19, 1948, in Danbury, Connecticut, Phil was the son of Christine Holick Moses and Philip J. Moses. He was raised in Danbury, where he built lifelong friendships and later met the love of his life, Debra LaBarbera Moses. Phil and Debra shared 44 wonderful years of marriage before her passing, a partnership rooted in loyalty, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a source of quiet pride and reflected the strength and commitment that defined his life.
After eventually settling in Summerville, South Carolina, Phil built a life centered on family, golf, and simple joys. He worked hard but always made time for fun. He believed you should do what you have to do, do right by others, and still find room to be silly and enjoy life. All he ever wanted was for those he loved to be good people — to do right, to take responsibility, and to live fully. That lesson will live on through everyone who knew him.
Phil was predeceased by his beloved wife, Debra. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Lisa (Jimmy) McCauley, Dianna (John) Nappi, Joanna (John) Samaha, and Mary-Beth (Kevin) Lyden; by his sister Anne Dugay, and by his nieces and nephews — Deidre, Todd, Josh, Ashley, Samantha, Jenna, Christa, Kevin, Devin, Johnny, Jason, and Nathan — who were like children to him and whom he loved deeply.
We are all better for having had him in our lives. His steady presence, humor, guidance, and love will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
