Priscilla "Pat" Schwenck Obituary

Priscilla “Pat” “Patsy” Ann Schwenck, 81, from Summerville, SC went to be with her Lord on May 23, 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel for family and friends Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021 at 4 pm.

Pat was born in Newark, NJ on January 28, 1940 to Vivian Ernest Hewitt (deceased) and George Hewitt (deceased).  She was one of eight children: Joseph Hewitt (deceased), Marie Hewitt Miller (deceased), George Hewitt (deceased), Louis Hewitt, Clark Hewitt (deceased), Ronnie Hewitt (deceased), and Florence Hewitt Bruno.  She raised seven children:  MaryAnn Schwenck Sager, Thomas Alan Schwenck (deceased), Gary Anton Schwenck, Susanne Schwenck Spezio, LeeAnne Schwenck, Joanne Schwenck Roberts,  and June Marie Schwenck. The family tree was further extended with caring, supportive spouses and then many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her grandchildren brought her so much joy.  She was the best pen pal, grandma sitter, and confidant.

Pat had an affinity for collectibles such as dolls, angels, and her beloved birds.  Each room in her house is sprinkled with these collectibles as they have brought her so much joy and comfort over the years, particularly the Cardinal bird.  Her yards have always been manicured to draw in God’s creatures.  Stemming from her childhood of dressing stray cats and walking them around in baby carriages transitioned to her love of feeding the birds, deer, wild turkeys, or any animal that entered the yard.  In her later years she became active in fostering Sheltie dogs and supporting the Sheltie Rescue.

She instilled independence, assertiveness, strong work ethic, compassion, empathy and the love of animals into her family.  She had a passion for advocacy for those with disabilities.  She worked tirelessly in the school system for children with special needs and was active in the PTA and Special Olympics.  As a Nurse’s Aide, she went above and beyond giving the required care.  We always knew her patients and to this day still can remember their names because for a season they became part of our family.  She would take us to visit them during the weekends so they would not go long without meals or friendly faces.

Our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend has fulfilled her earthly life and now begins her eternal life in the room Jesus prepared for her long ago.
