Ralph Charles Smith Jr.

Ralph Charles Smith Jr., 84, of North Charleston, SC, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials can be made to St. Paul’s Summerville Anglican. 316 West Carolina Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483.  

Ralph was born on February 2, 1937 in Macungie, PA. He was the son of Ralph C. Smith Sr. and Clara Herb Smith, and was a graduate of Phoenixville High School class of 1955. Ralph also played in a country and gospel band at many barn raisings in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania. He was very fluent in playing the guitar, fiddle, keyboard, and mandolin. He also enjoyed collecting coins. Ralph was a very kind, compassionate and humble person and will be dearly missed by many.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Gladys V. Smith of North Charleston, SC; step-son, Robert B. LaZar (Lori) of Lake Worth, FL; step-daughter, Jennifer D. Cochran (Mike) of Summerville, SC; brother, Richard H. Smith of Kutztown, PA; and his three grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He is predeceased by his mother Clara Herb and father Ralph C. Smith Sr.
