Renato Saavedra

Renato Saavedra, 97, of Summerville passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 13, 2023.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10 o’clock at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St Teresa Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 2 o’clock until 4 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Flowers are accepted.

Renato was born on November 12, 1925 in Santiago, Chile and is the son of the late Liborio Saavedra and Rosa Romero. He enjoyed site seeing while he would travel all across the world. He also loved being outside where he would bird watch for hours. Most importantly, Renato being with his family and valued all the time he spent with them.

Renato is survived by his wife of 72 years, Sylvia Saavedra of Summerville, SC; sons, Roland Saavedra, MD of Summerville, SC,  Renato Saavedra, Jr. and Alejandro Saavedra of Maryland and his daughter, Patricia Saavedra of Los Andes, Chile. He is predeceased by his father, Liborio Saavedra; mother, Rosa Romero; and daughter, Barbara Saavedra. Renato is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
