Rev. Kenneth E. Huffman

Rev. Kenneth E. Huffman, 94, of Summerville, SC, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 12 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 o’clock Thursday until the time of service. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Veterans Affairs, Voluntary Service Office, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

Ken was born August 4, 1929, the third son of Jon and Cora Huffman in Detroit, MI. He graduated from high school in 1947, married Mable L. Savage in 1949, and joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He served in the USAF for 11 years as a Crew Chief and as a flight mechanic on multi-engine aircraft. Answering God’s call to the ministry, he left the USAF in 1962 and began the study for ministry. He was ordained as minister in the Church of the Nazarene in 1971. He retired from ministry in 1995, and was honored to be named “Pastor Emeritus” in 1997. Ken was a runner for 18 years and a swimmer for 10 years. He swam a mile on his 85th birthday. Ken married Bernadette F. Westerberg on July 9th, 2011 and moved to Summerville, SC on June 6, 2018.

In addition to Mrs. Bernadette of Summerville, SC, he leaves behind a son, Kenneth “Buddy” Huffman of Federalsburg, MD; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ken Huffman will be missed by all who knew him. He loved people, especially his family. His life and ministry reflected that love.
