Richard "Joe" Ervin Smith

Richard "Joe" Ervin Smith, 68, of Summerville, SC passed away Sunday, December 29th, 2019 at his residence.

Visitation will be held at the family's home on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 from 2 - 5 pm and Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to The Gideons International, Processing Center, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251, Open Doors USA, PO Box 1595, Merrifield, VA 22116-1595 or the American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401.

Joe was born January 14, 1951 in Columbia, SC, a son of Raymond Smith and Ellen Louise Blanchard Smith. He was an US Army veteran and was a Rigger for the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Marie Smith; his three children, James Joseph (Denise) Smith, Jason Leroy Smith, Jodi Borders Sinclair (Bobby); four grandchildren, Alyssa Smith, Dustin, Zack and Andrew Sinclair; two sisters, Linda Rainwater, Jan Dearborn (Dennis); his brother, Jimmy W. (Linda) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Ellen Smith.
