Robert Antonsen Obituary

Robert G. “Bob” Antonsen, also known as “Chief,” 89, of Summerville, SC, passed away May 23, 2026.

Funeral Services and viewing will be Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2026 beginning at 1 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Beaufort National Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to EOD Warrior Foundation by visiting www.eod-wf.org.

Bob was born May 18, 1937 in Berlin, NH to Beryl and George Antonsen. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and served for over 30 years, retiring as an E-9 Chief Master Sergeant. During his tenure he served as a machinist for 2 years, an Explosive Ordinance Disposal expert for 16 years, and the remainder as a Vehicle Maintenance Manager where he was awarded “Transporter of the Year” for the Air Force. He served during wartime and peace in many countries. Bob was the owner of InstyPrints of Summerville for 40 years as well as owning Antonsens Rentals. Bob participated in many organizations and charities such as the Rotary Club of Summerville, Lyons Club, the Greater Summerville/Dorchester county Chamber of Commerce, VFW, AFSA, EOD Master Blasters, EOD Warriers Association, the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in NH.

Upon full retirement, Bob and his wife of over 68 and ½ years, Pat, enjoyed traveling in their motorhome throughout North America. They also enjoyed their mountain house in Toxaway, NC. He was a loving father who actively participated in his children’s education and sporting events. He was an avid fan and ticketholder for the USC Gamecocks and SC Stringray Hockey teams.

Bob leaves behind his wife, Patricia Rose Antonsen of Summerville, SC; sons, Robert “Bob” G. Antonsen (Karen) of Merritt Island, FL and Francis “Frank” Antonsen (Wendy) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Vivian Antonsen Taylor (David) of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousin, Sandra Bent of Brookline, NH; special family members, son-in-law, Joseph Clark Sherwood of Summerville, SC and Sharon Blaszak and family of Summerville, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his daughter, Valarie Antonsen Sherwood; parents, Beryl and George Antonsen; and his sister, Joan Antonsen Wilson.
