Robert Van Etta, Jr. Obituary
Robert Francis Van Etta Jr. age 71 of Summerville, South Carolina passed away on June 8 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born on March 26, 1953 at Great Lakes Naval Base and was the son of Dr. Robert F. Van Etta and L. Pauline Van Etta.
Robert grew up in Ely, Minnesota and was a graduate of Ely Memorial High School in 1971. He then attended Vermilion Community College and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1972. Robert served in the Air Force for over 24 years and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Robert then worked for Delta Airlines in Charleston, SC.
Robert is survived by his wife Benna of Summerville, SC. His two sons Matthew B. of Findlay, Ohio, Robert F. Ill (Khristine) of Colorado Springs Colorado. His two brothers Dr. John Van Etta (Dr. Linda) of Duluth, Minnesota and Thomas (Pam) of Cave Creek, Arkansas is also survived by nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
A very special thank you to doctors and hospital staff that took care of Robert, and especially to Ashley and Elijah Rodriquez that gave Robert great comfort and happiness at home There will be no funeral at Roberts request, there will be a Celebration of Life over the Labor Day weekend in Ely.
