Terry Clevenger Obituary

Terry Gene Clevenger died at home on November 21, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He
was 74.

Born in Kittery, Maine, to Gene and Jane Clevenger, Terry enjoyed a childhood enriched by his dad’s Navy career and subsequent travels. As a kid, Terry braved snow sledding in Rhode Island, soaked up San Diego sun, endured ice fishing in Newfoundland, caught the tennis bug in Great Lakes, Illinois, and finally found his forever home in Summerville, SC. It was in Summerville that he became a successful 10-year-old entrepreneur in the boiled peanut business at the corner of Richardson and Cedar Street, thus financing the purchase of a ten-speed bike.

A proud member of the Summerville High School class of ’68, Terry found forever friends among several classmates who – decades later—eventually became the storied Thursday Lunch Crew. In his teens, he was often found surfing at the Wash Out on Folly Beach or on the lifeguard stand at the Miler Country Club pool.

Terry went on to attend Clemson University and forever after bled orange and purple. Following college, he served in the US Army in Germany and went on to a 30-year career with International Nondestructive Testing. Terry’s Clemson ties led him to the love of his life, Robin Adair Patton. For more than 44 years the pair shared a love of tennis, golf, camping, and dogs, but most of all, the incredible love for their children, Shane and Jessica, and granddaughters Blake and Emma.

Terry is survived by his wife, Robin; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lauren Clevenger and their daughter Blake; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Matt Carter and their daughter Emma; mother, Mary Elizabeth (Jane) Clevenger; sister and brother-in-law Susan and Bob Overstreet; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Eugene Vivian Clevenger.

The family wishes to thank their family physician and Agape Hospice Director Dr. David Castellone, the MUSC Oncology Team, and Agape Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dorchester Paws, 136 4 Paws Lane, Summerville,SC 29483 or the Hollings Cancer Center.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 24, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Parks Funeral Home.

Arrangements by PARKS FUNERAL HOME, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. www.parksfuneralhome.com
