Thaddeus Lamar Heyward, 22, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, holding his parents hands.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
Born on May 18, 2002, in Charleston, SC, Thaddeus was a radiant soul who brought warmth and kindness to everyone he met. He had a deep love for reading, gospel and jazz music, and found joy in making others feel their best—whether through his passion for hairstyling, skincare, or simply lifting their spirits. His vibrant personality shone through in his love for rainy days, his eagerness to spend time with loved ones, and his signature phrases, “Let’s look nice today” and “Talk to Mr. Jesus!” Thaddeus had a heart for helping others and a presence that could light up any room. His kindness, creativity, and infectious energy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Thaddeus Heyward and Terrion L. Smith-Grant, both of Summerville, SC; his bonus father, Paul A. Grant of Summerville, SC; his brothers, Trayvonee J. Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Messiah Heyward of Summerville, SC, and Cameo Heyward of Summerville, SC; his grandparents, Benjamin and Beatrice Smith of North Charleston, SC; and his grandmother, Serena Heyward of Huger, SC. He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Richard and Deloris Washington.
Though Thaddeus is no longer with us in body, his light, love, and beautiful spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
