Therese Marie Wheat

Therese Marie Wheat, 91, of Howell Township, NJ, widow of the late Henry Wheat, passed away Sunday, May 1st, 2022.

A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Epiphany, 641 Thiele Rd, Brick, NJ 08724, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Therese’s name may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by visiting www.lls.org.

Therese was born November 15, 1930 in Hillside, NJ, a daughter of the late Patrick Duff and Frieda Grehl. She was the Music Secretary for Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ and an active member of the PTA. A former President of the Navy League, North Jersey Council, Therese also worked with the Summit Adult Education Program before moving to Howell.

Therese was an avid gardener and crafter. A devout Catholic, Therese actively lived her faith. Her many volunteer activities included the Wall Library, hospice, and NJ Governor’s Mansion.

Therese leaves behind her sons Henry Wheat (Jean) of Saco, Maine and Richard “Buck” Wheat (Pixie) of Charleston, SC; daughter Judith Wheat of Arlington, Virginia; and grandsons Scott Sawicki of Arlington, Virginia and Aaron Wheat of Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Fairbanks, Rita Graybush, Catherine Funke, Christina Fairbanks, and Agnes Duff; and brothers, Joseph Duff, Aloysius Duff, Francis Duff, and Patrick Duff.
