Lt. Col. (Ret USAF) Thomas E Collum Jr passed away at the age of 91 years old surrounded by family on November 29th 2025 in Summerville, SC.
He was born on September 1st 1934, in Shannon, GA to Thomas Sr and Mozelle Collum. Tom and his wife Rene were previous residents in Gilbert SC overlooking Lake Murray. His passions in life were striper fishing, golfing, Atlanta Braves baseball, Clemson University sports, and his family. A large part of his life was enjoyed working and living near lakes where he could fish. Before health issues, he was known for his quick wit and shag dancing.
He is survived by his wife Dorene “Rene” Smith Collum; Daughters: Crisanne Baken (Chuck) of Ormond Bch FL; Shelley Collum-McQuigg (Steve) of Geneva Switzerland; Mindy Collum Knight (Chip) of Summerville SC; Marcy Collum (Chris Martin) of Summerville SC; nephew Derek Collum (Michelle) of Jacksonville FL; step-children Victoria Smith Bhardwaj (TC) of Lancaster SC; and Scott Smith (Margaret) of Spartanburg SC. Surviving grandchildren are Ashley, Amanda, Brooke, Brittany, Maelys, Melanie, Haden, Trae, Austin, Jordan, Nicholas, Josh, and Max, along with numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday December 3rd at 1:00pm at Parks Funeral Home in Summerville. A private burial will follow at a later date in Greenwood SC with his parents and oldest daughter. In following with his preferred casual clothing, guests are invited to wear fishing, golfing, Braves, or Clemson attire in his honor. In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be made to any Veteran association or The Family Hospice.
