Thomas “Tommy” Lobo Gallagher, 18, of Summerville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 20, 2024.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. In honor of Tommy, memorials can be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, www.myotonic.org.
Tommy was born with a serious diagnosis, which did not stop him from living a happy life despite all the challenges he would be facing in his years of life, 18 years that can be easily compared to 88 giving the amount of suffering that he faced, as well as the number of lives that Tommy touched – he radiated pure love everywhere he went while teaching us about compassion. In addition to that, he demonstrated infinite courage while battling myotonic dystrophy, a disease that brought on so many moments of pain and despair. Tommy will always be remembered by his unwavering grace and gentleness; and his amazing memory will forever live in each one of us who were privileged to be part of his beautiful life. He will be tremendously missed by a community that constantly rallied behind him, no matter what the reason was, because of the simple goodness that Tommy always spread along the way.
Tommy is survived by his mother, Heloise Schieber of Summerville, SC; brother, Ryan Schieber (Megan) of Johns Island, SC; nephew, James Schieber; and niece, Audrey Schieber.
