Valerie (Droze) Wolfe

Valerie Droze Wolfe, age 76, left her earthly home for her eternal home with Jesus on September 12th, 2021.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joe Wolfe, daughter Denise Wolfe Mote, son Joseph Wolfe-Borders (Clyde), and daughter Kerri Wolfe Miner (Joe), grandchildren Dillon (Taylor), Cody (Hallie), Emily, Max, Jacob, and Luke, great grandchildren Ryleigh, Pyper, and Skyler, sister Deborah Powell (Stan), and many beloved extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Addie and Wardell Droze and sister Shirley Ann Hall.

Valerie, lovingly known as "Barry" to family and close friends, was born in 1945 in Summerville, SC. She graduated from Summerville High School and married her Air Force sweetheart before starting their family. She lived in Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, and in other parts of the Carolinas, but always wished to "move back home" to Summerville, which she did upon Joe's retirement, living just one block from the home in which she was born and raised.

Valerie was an active member of her church for many years. She once single-handedly organized a charity auction that raised thousands of dollars for her church building fund. She was also an avid singer and enjoyed singing Southern Gospel songs and hymns with her family, her church choir, and the singing group The Cornerstone Singers of which she was a member with her daughter and brother-in-law.

When her children were young, she was a prolific volunteer at their schools, coordinating the "health room" and serving as a substitute teacher, chaperone, room mom, band mom, and more. She always had room at the table and food on the stove for friends, neighbors, and even strangers. She will be remembered as a loving, generous wife, sister, mother, grammy, and friend.

Funeral Services will be Thursday afternoon, September 16, 2021 at 2 o'clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Valerie's name to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
