Vernon had a deep love for travel, enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yard work, and a special bond with dogs. In his younger years, he was also known for his remarkable singing voice, which brought joy to those around him.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Carol Mechtensimer of Summerville, SC; along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mechtensimer; along with his siblings, Maxine, Marie, Dorothy, and Earl.
