Walter Michael Mullins

Walter Michael Mullins, 84, of Summerville, SC, husband of Mary DeVries Mullins, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be Monday afternoon, April 17, 2023 at 4 o’clock at Ridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3 o’clock until the time of service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials in Walter’s name may be made to Agape Hospice, 374 Myers Road, Summerville, SC 29486 or Ridge Baptist Church, 2168 Ridge Church Road, Summerville, SC 29486.

Walter was born December 28, 1938 in Sodus, NY, a son of the late Henry Clay Mullins and Laura Janette Mullins Campbell. He honorably served in the United States Navy for 23 years as an Operations Specialist and also worked for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed attending his Sunday School Class at Ridge Baptist Church and his Studebaker Club. He served in the senior ministry and was also a member of the Veterans Group. He loved sports, birdwatching, crossword puzzles, and took part in a fishing and hunting club.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary L. Mullins of Summerville, SC, Walter leaves behind his sons, Jeffrey J. Mullins (Susan) and Michael C. Mullins (Patti) also of Summerville, SC; daughter, Debra G. Nichols of Pickens, SC; sister-in-law, Shirley Mullins of UT; niece, Patricia Norris (Randy) of Summerville, SC; nephew, Rayven Norris (Haley); grandchildren, Jay Mullins (Kaitland), Randall Gwinn (Jessie), Travis Nichols (Antonia), Brandon Mullins (Liz), Adreana “AJ” Brown (Justin), Parker Mullins, and Logan Mullins; great-grandchildren, Jensen Mullins, Rinley Mullins, Addie Mae Mullins, Gage Gwinn, Raelynn Gwinn, Landon Gwinn, Mason Gwinn, Cooper Mullins, Walker Mullins, Jacari Brown, Rylee Brown, Aniyah Brown, Laekyn (Emily) Nichols, Noah Nichols, Nyomi Nichols, Nevin Nichols, and Nolan Nichols. Walter also leaves behind Brad Hughes of Orlando, FL, Brooke (Jay) Axxon, and Drake and Ava of Dearing, GA. Walter is predeceased by his parents; a brother, Clay Mullins; and a son-in-law, Jim Nichols.
