William Anonie, Jr. Obituary

William (Bill) James Anonie, Jr., 75, of Summerville, SC, died Saturday, October 19th, 2024 after a short battle with liver cancer.

Son of the late William and Margaret Anonie, Bill was born September 3rd, 1949 in Teaneck, NJ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Susan Bryan Anonie, son William (Bill) James Anonie III (Shr-Han Wu), daughter Meredith Bryan Anonie Buddin (Ce), granddaughter Mary Barton Buddin, sister Kathy Savage (John), several nieces and nephews, and his faithful Boykin Spaniel Chummy. He is predeceased by his brother Joseph Alfred Anonie and sister-in-law Carolyn Anonie.

Bill grew up in Bogota, NJ and graduated from Bogota High School in 1967. Bill was drafted into the US Army in 1969 and was deployed to Vietnam. He served with the 101st Airborne Division and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with “V” device.

From the College of Charleston, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He was a Federal employee of the United States Navy and worked at the Charleston Ship Yard, the Naval Weapons Station, and the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. After retirement from the Federal

Government, Bill was a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton.

Bill was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Summerville, SC and was a part of the Reading Buddies Ministry serving at Summerville Elementary School. Bill was first and foremost a family man. He loved coaching his daughter’s soccer team, the Angels, at the Summerville Soccer Club, working in the concession stands to support the Summerville High School Marching Band where his son played the trumpet, and attending the Summerville Orchestra concerts with Susan. Bill was an avid fan of the College of Charleston Cougars and the New York Yankees.

A special thank you to family friends Alice and David Kaskin, Mary and Ethan Allison, Mary and Glenn DeLaughter, and Kay and Bill Wagner for years of unwavering friendship.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 25th, 2024 from 5-7pm at Parks Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held by the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard at 208 Central Avenue, Summerville (St. Luke’s historic chapel) on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 11am.
