William “Stoney” Blanton, 96, of Cottageville, SC, widower of the late Virginia Smith Blanton, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12 noon in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Cane Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 o’clock until the time of service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.
Stoney was born January 4, 1929 in Ridgeville, SC, the son of the late William Morrison Blanton and Margie Canady Blanton. He retired from the Charleston Navy Yard, was a big supporter of the SC Fireman’s Association, past member of Lodge 270 and past president of the Omar Shrine Coastal Club. He was a member of Maple Cane Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, and had a passion for farming.
Stoney leaves behind his two sons, William Richard Blanton and Lee Morrison Blanton, both of Bonneau Beach, SC; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Billy Jean Spath; sisters, Margie Mau, Martha Gooding, Betty Reeves, Pearl Smoak, and Clara Mae Blanton.
