William “Jomama” Goree, Jr., 74, of Ladson, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026.
William was born on November 13, 1951, to the late William J. Goree, Sr. and Elizabeth H. Goree. He dedicated 13 years of hard work to the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a shipwright, remaining one of its final active employees before its closure—a testament to his loyalty and strong work ethic. William had a deep appreciation for the things he loved. He was an avid collector, found joy in motorcycles, and above all, had a genuine love for animals. His bond with his dogs was especially meaningful. He was a proud member A.B.A.T.E. In honor of William’s love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Dorchester Paws, 136 4 Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.
William is survived by his sisters, Patricia A. Goree of Bennetts Point, SC, Cheryl G. Lisk (Brad) of Summerville, SC; nephew, Jennings B. Lisk III (Anna) of Summerville, SC; nieces, Haley E. Romeo (Joseph) of Beaufort, SC, Katharine Kellett (Ryan) of Summerville, SC; and his beloved dog, Bubba. He is predeceased by his parents, William J. Goree, Sr. and Elizabeth H. Goree.
