William Gordon Smith

William Gordon Smith, 82, of Summerville, SC, loving husband of Marilyn B. Smith, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Memorial Services will be Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022 at 2 o’clock at North Charleston Church of Christ, 8415 Patriot Boulevard, North Charleston, SC 29423. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the church or the VA Veteran’s Homeless Shelter.

William was born May 16, 1939 in Washington, IN, the son of the late Daniel Hobart Smith and Marcella MaCall Smith. He honorably served in the United States Navy, enlisting on August 29, 1957. After retiring from the USN on August 30, 1976, he spent over 20 years in Civil Service.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn Smith of Summerville, SC, William leaves behind his son, Michael Smith (Teresa) also of Summerville, SC; daughter, Leilani Porter of Milton, FL; sister, Judith Marie Terpstra of Washington, IN; grandchildren, William Porter (Larry), Hugh Smith, Jeffrey Porter (Meredith), Emily Smith, Steven Porter, and Clay Porter; and his great-grandchild, Cana Porter.
