William Thomas (Bill) Hamilton, 95 years young, of Summerville entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 17 at the Village of Summerville.
Bill is the son of Hugh and Helen (Matheny) Hamilton. He was a lifelong resident of Summerville and owned the “Wee Wash” Laundry for many years. He was also employed for a time at The Hamilton Motel and finally for 23 years at The Presbyterian Home of Summerville.
Bill was born with cerebral palsy but that did not stop him from living life to the fullest and being a friend to all. He was a Godly man who did not let his circumstances get him down. He loved his God, his family, his friends, his Country and his South Carolina Gamecocks.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Hilde Hamilton Melfi of Summerville; nieces Debbie Howell of Greer, SC; DeeDee (Mike) Digby of Jackson, GA; Terri Mirka (Joe) of Jonestown, TX; nephew Thomas Hamilton (Cindy) of Gilbert, SC; 12 great nieces and nephews; 11 great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Helen Hamilton; his sister, Nell H. Hutton; his brother, Nick Hamilton; his nieces Tricia Finely and Patti Pickens and his nephew, Nicky Hamilton.
A Grave Side service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11 o’clock at St. Paul’s Anglican 316 West Carolina Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. A Celebration of Life will also be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2 o’clock at The Village at Summerville, Chapel 201 West 9th North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to New Beginnings Christian Church at 10054 Highway 78 Ladson, SC 29456 or The PCSC Foundation-Summerville Employee Appreciation, 2817 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
