Danni (Shannon) Roper

Danni Shannon Roper of Ladson, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 after a long illness. She was born April 24, 1956 in Okinawa, Japan to Willard and Joyce Johnson Shannon.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Eugene “Gene” Roper; siblings, Michael Shannon (Linda), Joyce Shannon Zandri and Heather Shannon; children, Bobby Judy (Oksana), Tammy Judy Turturro; stepdaughter, Stephanie Johnson (Chad); seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jonathan Shannon; and nephew, William Craig Miller.

Danni graduated from The Baptist College at Charleston, now Charleston Southern University, with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She was a retired owner and Laboratory Director of AquaTox Laboratory, Inc. in Summerville, SC. The lab specialized in a field of environmental science for which there were only five scientists in South Carolina with the knowledge required for state and national certification. She once diagnosed a problem in a lake in Saudi Arabia that stumped the leading Saudi laboratories. She also discovered a drug lab in Hanahan, SC, by analyzing landfill waste and tracking it back to the source.

She was a devout Christian who lived her faith, a giver, and selfless to the extreme. Her husband and children were her life.​

Danni was an angel who will be sorely missed, but she was a very private person, and in keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Danni’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
